Special General Meeting
A Special General Meeting of Members was held in Reading on 28th Nov,
1908.
The attendance included Major POrtal (Chairman), Messrs Baxendale,
Selkirk, Joy, Mason, Harrison, à Court, Dodd, the Marquis of
Downshire, Messrs Ouvry, Barwell, Taylor, Jessop, Hawkins and Sir
Wm.Shipley, with Captain Waring (Hon.Sec.).
The Hon.Treasurer was unavoidably absent, and a letter of apology from
him was read.
1. The Notice convening the Meeting was read by the Hon.sec. Notice on
opposite page.
2. The Minutes of the last General Meeting were read, approved and
signed.
3. The Chairman explained how the Committee had arrived at its
recommendations as regards affiliation, and moved the following
resolution:-
"That the opinions of the Members as expressed by the voting papers
returned, be given effect to, and that for the present the Berks
Automobile Club shall not affiliate with any other body, and, that the
Rules of Club be amdended accordingly."
This was seconded by Mr.Harrison & carried unanimously.
It was proposed Mr.Dodd, seconded by Dr.Joy, and carried unanimously:-
"That, with regard to Rule 18, the annual subscription be reduced to
one guinea for gentlemen, and to a uniform subscription of half a
guinea for ladies, the entrance fee remaining as at present."
