Special General Meeting
A Special Meeting of Members of the Club was held at the Great Western
Railway Hotel, Reading, at 1:15pm on Saturday, 1st July, 1905. The
attendance included Major Portal (Chairman) Messrs Carew Gibson, Gordon
Paterson, Ouvry, Alston, Dr Hopkins Walters, Captain Rhodes, The
Marquis of Downshire, Baxendale, Joy.
1. The notice convening the Meeting was read.
2. The Minutes of the Meeting held on 14th February, were read,
approved and signed.
3. Rule 8 as proposed to be altered by the Committee was read, and
after slight amendment was adopted on the proposal of Dr Walters,
seconded by Mr Baxendale. Rule 9 after slight alteration was adopted
after proposal by Dr.Walters, seconded by Capt. Rhodes. The other Rules
were approved.
4. The Chairman proposed & Mr Carew Gibson seconced that the
election of Mr W.L.JBourke to fill the vacancy on the Committee be
confirmed, carried unanimously.
5. The Chairman reported that a vote of thanks had been passsed to Sir
Gilbert Clayton East on the occasion of the Gymkhana which was held at
Hall Place on 17th where the Members had been hospitably entertainted
by Sir Gilbert.
6. Lord Devonshire proposed & Mr Ouvry seconded a vote of thanks to
the Chairman for presiding.
