BERKSHIRE AUTOMOBILE CLUB

The 23rd Annual General Meeting was held on May 19th at 12 noon at the G.W. Hotel, Reading.

Present Major Portal in the chair, Col. W.P. Nash, Capt W. Waring, Sir A.B. Lowry C.B., Mr Owen Llewellyn, Dr Secretan, Miss Noble, Miss Lowry, Lr Col E.A.B. Orr (Hon Secretary & Treasurer)

1. The Secretary read the notice calling the meeting. The Minutes were read confirmed and signed.

2. Regret for non attendance were received from Capt. C. Vallange, Mr E.S. Shrapnell-Smith, Mr. Selkirk, Gen. Sir Walter de Cayley.

3. The Chairman explained the accounts already circulated to members showing a balance of £35.7.11 which he said was entirely satisfactory.

4. The Chairman spoke on the report of the year, which had been uneventful. Ther was one sad event, that was the resignation of Miss Noble as Secretary.

Proposed by Sir A. Lowry that the report should be accepted, seconded by Col Nash. Carried unanimously.

5. The Chairman submitted the Budget for the present year, he estimated the expenditure £240, Income £250.

6. The Meeting confirmed the appointment of Lt. Col. Orr as the secretary & Treasurer.

7. Mr E.S.Shrapnell-Smith was re-elected as Hon Auditor and the committee desired to thank him for his service during the year.

8. The Chairman announced that he was sure that he would only be expressing the feelings of all the members of the Club, he himself had so often conveyed to Miss Noble his thanks and theirs for all the good work she had done for the Club during her five years as Secretary, and it was now a great pleasure to him to present to her a silver vegetable (?) as a memento of her services.

Proposed by Col. Nash seconded by Sir A. Lowry that the committee be re-elected en bloc.

Proposed by Captain Waring that the 25th Anniversary of the formation of the Club (Dec 19th, 1903) be celebrated by a Dinner at the Great Western Hotel, Reading.

It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Henley Committee.

A very hearty vote of thanks was given to the Chairman. Proposed by Capt. O.J. Llewellyn, seconded by Col. Nash. Carried unanimously.
